Welcome to the third round of the Forza Motorsport ALMS Challenge! After two months of racing action, we’re turning the intensity up a notch with the most powerful car we’ve featured so far in the ALMS Challenge: the 1991 Mazda #55 Team Mazdaspeed 787B. One of the most famous Japanese race cars of all time and the final Japanese race cars to use the Wankel rotary engine, what the 787 lacked in raw power it made up for in steady reliability. A combination of pace and consistency gave the 787B (driven by the likes of Johnny Herbert, Volker Weidler, and Bertrand Gachot) victory in the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the first and only victory for a Japanese manufacturer in the famous endurance race.

Road Atlanta opened in 1970 and was home of the inaugural Formula DRIFT event back in 2004. The 2.54-mile, 12-turn track is owned by Panoz Motor Sports Group and hosts many events throughout the year including Formula DRIFT.  Utilizing Turns 10A, and 10B of the road course, cars slide sideways through the turns and then hit the loop before the bridge and back towards Turns 10B, 10A, and then ends dramatically by drifting uphill on an incline.  Round 2: Road to the Championship at Road Atlanta will be one of the most anticipated events of the season.
