Formula Drift and Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management are joining forces to bring Formula D to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in what will be an inaugural invitational event. Eight of the series’ top drivers and their cars will be transported to the UAE for what will be the first world-class drift event in the Persian Gulf region. “The partnership with Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management is a perfect fit to introduce the Formula DRIFT UAE Invitational Competition,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “Even though drifting has been to the UAE before, we are excited to bring a world class combination of the world’s most advanced circuit along with the world’s leading drifting series.” The lucky drivers include 2-time Formula DRIFT champion and 3-time X-Games Gold Medalist Tanner Foust, 2010 Formula DRIFT rookie of the year and past Scandinavian champion, Fredric Aasbo, 2009 Formula DRIFT champion, Chris Forsberg, Darren McNamara, Ryan Tuerck, and Daijiro Yoshihara. Two more spots are still up for grabs and will be announced at a later date. This is exciting for the sport and will mark a historic world first come February 25th next year.

South Side Performance EVO X MR @ Real Time Attack

Jeremy from south side performance(SSP) contacted us after hearing about Real Time Attack, and was excited to finally have and event like this. Due to the fact that our event was sold out, he was only able to bring one shop car, which was the Evo X MR making 540whp 406 tq. And it was a sight for soar eyes, this evo was not only aerodynamically beautiful, it performed like no other. We had to keep bumping him up in class till we just had to match him up with the Porsche tt, AMG Mercedes and a supercharged mustang cobra.... and still he owned the track. Jeremy will be bring more cars and fellow shops eager to race at Real Time Attack and will be a force to recon with next year. We expect SSP to break records on every track.

Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Drift/gymkhana Sema 2010

Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Jr. are considered two of the best drifters on the planet, which means that fans of the two racers are going to have a special treat in the form of this drifting showdown Block and Gittin Jr. engaged in during SEMA. Now, it wasn’t really a competition between the two as it was an exhibition for them to show the gathered audience at the drifting track at SEMA, as well as the millions more watching on the Internet, why they are widely considered two of the best and most popular drifters this side of the solar system. Block came to throwdown in his unmistakable Monster Ford Fiesta whereas Gittin Jr. showed up ready to burn the wheels off of his Monster Ford Mustang RTR. Put these two drivers in the same drifting course, let them loose, and you’re bound to experience one hell of a Gymkhana showdown from two of the planet’s best.
